Field Service Engineer, Qcept Technologies Inc.

Qcept Technologies, Inc., the leader in semiconductor Non-Visual Defect inspection systems, is currently recruiting an experienced Field Service Engineer to support its growing base of advanced semiconductor wafer inspection systems installed in fabs worldwide. The Field Service Engineer (FSE) position supports customers globally through build, test, qualification, shipping, installation and maintenance of wafer inspection systems.

The FSE:

  • provides technical support and troubleshooting, and preventive and corrective maintenance as well as process operation/verification, on complex wafer inspection systems
  • instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the systems
  • maintains good customer relations and customer satisfaction
  • serves as company liaison with customer on specified administrative and technical matters for assigned projects
  • completes and maintains detailed records of all technical problems using CRM system
  • travels domestically and internationally between 40% - 60% and possibly higher at times.
Essential Functions and Requirements
  • Build, test, install, and obtain customer acceptance of automated wafer inspection tools
  • Assure component or subsystem quality before shipment to a customer.
  • Provide service, repair, upgrade, and product support of inspection tools, either onsite or via phone or email support
  • Use escalation policies to keep management informed when specific performance criteria are not fulfilled.
  • Read/interpret engineering drawings, pneumatic & electrical schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and software related issues.
  • Work with colleagues and customers to develop, document, and implement Best Known Methods (BKM) for tool installation, maintenance, and operations.
  • Coordinate provisioning, delivery and installation of spare parts.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills (foreign/domestic).
  • Be fluent in English; other language abilities are a plus particularly Japanese or Mandarin
  • Travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, often with little notice
  • Work on different shifts/overtime/stand-by, on-call/holidays/weekends, as needed.

Qualifications

Education

Associates Degree (AS) in Electronics or similar field, or two years of electronic related college level education plus 5-10 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.

Skills and Experience

  • Direct experience in field service for semiconductor capital equipment, with strong preference for inspection and/or metrology tools
  • Excellent customer skills, excellent communication skill - written and verbal
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the semiconductor equipment or closely related industry
  • Mechanical aptitude including the ability to operate basic machine tools, hand tools, meters, scopes, common test/calibration instruments and other pertinent tools/instruments is required
  • On-site and telephone product support
  • Electronics and electrical circuits
  • Safety practices and elements including knowledge of EMO, LOTO procedures and ability to understand and follow customer safety requirements
  • Knowledge of clean room protocols
  • Demonstrated skills and proficiency to successfully perform, unsupervised, in the customer environment
  • Computer literacy on MS Windows XP and Office, and at least one fab tool GUI
  • Electromechanical/motion-control systems
  • Successful candidate is a quick learner, and is self-motivated and team-oriented
  • Experience with Asyst EFEM’s a plus.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Position requires continuous physical effort; intermittent and long-term work cycles; standing, walking, sitting, repetitive motion, and lifting up to 35 pounds unassisted.

Must be able to work in a cleanroom environment over 50% of the time; this includes wearing protective clothing. Significant domestic and international travel usually between 40% - 60% but possibly higher at times.
