Mechanical Engineer / Designer
While reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Mechanical Engineer / Designer will be primarily responsible for the mechanical machine design of capital equipment supporting the semiconductor and solar cell industry, as well as mechanical engineering, including mechanical design concurrent with electrical, instrument controls and software. You will also provide technical support to other internal organizations (sales, procurement, manufacturing and process laboratory).
Responsibilities:
Perform system level mechanical design of capital equipment
Process reactors for electroplating of wafers
Maintain robotic automation having electromechanical and pneumatic actuators
Ensure fluid handling systems including pumps, filters, storage tanks and associated plumbing and valves
Uphold electrical controls packaging
Enclosure design including structural frame and sheet metal
Prepare and maintain of mechanical engineering documentation
Create and maintain mechanical drawings
Write statements of work, performance specifications, BOMs, system descriptions and theory of operations
Support Engineering Change Request's from other internal organizations
Communicate Engineering Change Orders for new releases and revisions
Support prototype procurement and assembly
Ensure hands-on prototype assembly
Maintain system level troubleshooting of hardware performance
Sustain certain production and start-up standby support
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or near equivalent industrial experience, along with 8+ years mechanical design of capital equipment machinery and a background in the semiconductor equipment industry. Understanding of CE equipment certification requirements and OSHA safety standards as applied to process equipment along with understanding of control system integration with process instrumentation required. The successful individual will possess the following skills, knowledge, experience and abilities:
CAD experience using SolidWorks and ProE
Management experience of configuration control, ECO and release procedures essential
Closed form structural and fluid flow analysis capability
Detailed mechanical hardware design with an emphasis on machine design including robotics, fluid handling systems, process flow instrumentation and cabinet enclosure design
Engineering-level computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and engineering data-management software: PDMWorks preferred or IntraLink acceptable)
Strong desire for hands on mechanical assembly, debug and laboratory support
Machinist background highly desired
