The Shannon Development Centre is the European research and development arm of Intel's Digital Enterprise Group (DEG). The site hosts a number of divisions focusing on server chipset, security and communication silicon and software design. The Shannon Business Centre provides business, technical and marketing support for European customers and field sales. Shannon is the European base for the embedded businesses of DEG and home to the technical marketing and business development teams. Intel Shannon has a number of exciting & challenging opportunities for electronic engineers interested in using their design, development and support experience to work with European customers on Embedded Intel Architecture. Intel has a long and successful history of enabling development and deployment of embedded applications by driving the adoption of open standards and providing a comprehensive product line. Intel offers a broad range of embedded solutions to meet our customer’s needs for performance, functionality and cost across the following target segments; In Car Infotainment Systems, Communications, Consumer Electronics, Digital Security Surveillance, Enterprise Infrastructure Security, Industrial, Interactive Client, Gaming, Print Imaging, Medical, Storage and Wireless Infrastructure.

We are looking for electronic engineers with board design, board bring-up & debug skills on embedded systems and experienced electronic design support professionals.

Responsibilities

In this position, you will be acting as a technical expert, consultant, analyst, key technology trainer and program manager. Responsibilities will include supporting Intel Platforms (processors, associated chipsets and software) for the embedded market, owning and managing projects from initial customer opportunity discovery through to end product qualification and working closely with other Intel divisions in driving new technology adoption. Specifics include:

  • Direct engagement with Tier 1 OEMs providing pre and post sales technical support, including architecture definition, platform design and debug support.
  • Resolving difficult technical problems, investigation and disposition of errata.
  • Working directly with platform and silicon architects to ensure a complete platform solution is defined and available for the OEM and/or ODM customers to use during their development cycle.
  • Act as a liaison between customers' requirement, and architecture teams to ensure `best-in-class' product definitions.
  • Working with ecosystem partners on third party silicon products that are integral to the overall Intel platform. This includes working with third party vendors to align platform requirements, develop supporting collateral’s and support customer inquiries on platform implementation requirements.
  • Owning and driving the definition and development of platform technical documentation for OEM and/or ODM customer. This will also require direct engagement with product marketing engineers to develop customer-ready collateral and messages.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess a degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science with more than five years experience in design or support of Embedded Systems. Successful candidates will have broad technical ability across hardware and software in embedded systems and will possess excellent communications skills. Specifics include:
  • Strong understanding of the X86 architecture, ideally Intel Architecture-based platforms including the CPU and Chipset architecture and associated system requirements.
  • An understanding of circuit design and architectural concepts to develop and execute debug analysis in the lab.
  • Experience of software tools associated with electronic design such as Cadence, Orcad & Protel.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen, understand and respond professionally to customers including strong technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience in working with and supporting sales and marketing teams to deliver pre-design in support.
  • Ability to work independently, be proactive, multitask effectively and exhibit good influencing skills with strong customer orientation and willingness to travel within Europe and occasionally to US.
