POSITION SUMMARY The Application Engineer is responsible for developing a comprehensive understanding of First Solar PV modules and their applications in renewable energy systems and using that knowledge to manage product-related documentation, certifications, and field performance metrics to meet the business needs of the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Compose and manage published product documentation - ensuring ratings, specifications, application notes, and certifications accurately reflect current product performance.
• Manage and execute product certification activities to meet the external requirements documented by the Product Manager and internal requirements driven by technology development, materials sourcing, or plant expansion.
• Execute modeling, performance monitoring, and analysis of Photovoltaic (PV) systems.
• Execute First Solar’s System Design and Application process and provide direct technical support for the North American customer base.
• Interface with cross-functional teams on product-related issues and projects

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

• Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in a results-oriented position
• Proven experience in project management and project planning fundamentals
• Proven ability to communicate technical content to a general audience both verbally and in writing
• Experience with Document Control and Quality Management Systems
• Working knowledge of statistical and mathematical data analysis techniques
• Working experience with PV Systems and/or Electric Power Utilities (a plus)

• Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project required.
• Strong technical and marketing writing skills
