Our Client is a rapidly growing global supplier of advanced semiconductor wafers with a market share twice that of its leading competitors, and products that cover a diverse range of applications. It is able to provide a 'one stop shop' for the wafer needs of the world's leading compound semiconductor manufacturers, who in turn use these wafers to make the chips which form the key components of virtually every high technology system. They also provide bespoke R&D services to deliver customized materials for specific applications and offers specialist technical staff to manufacture to specification either at its own facilities or on the customer's own sites. Their two UK manufacturing sites have surplus capacity and a considerable upwards potential and we are seeking a highly dynamic executive for a new position of as General Manager, Europe who will have full P&L and operational responsibility to drive them forward.

As such you will need to be a real leader and commercially switched-on executive with an engineering or scientific background and ideally a post-graduate qualification, and a significant amount of operational experience at a senior level within an innovative hi-tech volume manufacturing environment, and are likely to have previously been a GM, MD or Operations Director in a smaller business, ideally in semiconductors, silicon, sensors, opto-electronics, advanced solar or related technologies.

You will be someone who is able to demonstrate a proven track record of change management and the use of statistical tools like Six Sigma to create a lean operational environment, and will, have had prior P&L experience. Apart from this you must have a strong commercial dimension with excellent customer facing skills to secure and exploit new market opportunities whilst effectively managing operational issues.
