Engineering Manager, Applied Materials

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that specific projects assigned are completed as planned. This may include, but is not limited to, the disciplines listed above.
  • Supervises subordinate personnel (engineers, technicians, etc.) in their assigned activities.
  • Ensures that work is assigned appropriately and that results are obtained and evaluated.
  • Oversees the professional and career development of subordinate staff.
  • Ensures that area Management and relevant Company personnel are informed of progress in specific, related areas of concern, via reports, meetings, and other contacts.
  • Oversees and manages the utilization of equipment/facilities in the area, as required.
  • Ensures that appropriate maintenance is performed, equipment down time is minimized, equipment utilization is optimized and appropriate safety procedures are in use within the area.
  • Remains knowledgeable of progress made in applicable technology in the industry and academic areas.
  • Ensures that applicable advances in technology are incorporated within Applied Materials, as appropriate.
  • Documents all aspects of equipment performance, as required by department management, recommending product improvements through appropriate channels.
  • Ensures that all engineering work is documented, lab/engineering notebooks are maintained, and all Company policies are enforced with regard to proprietary information, patents, technology development and confidentiality.
  • Capitalizes on and creates opportunities for the increased utilization of Applied Materials' products within the customer base, in conjunction with sales/marketing efforts, as required for specific area of responsibility, passing pertinent areas of opportunity to these departments, and promoting the use of Applied products whenever possible.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • MS (ME or EE) 3- 7 years experience in electromechanical design, experience in managing small teams of engineers.
  • Strong hands on type person with ability to comprehend and be able to manage process engineers as well which would require a strong academic background in Physics and Chemistry.
  • 2 or more managerial experiences.
  • Experience in troubleshooting of appropriate process, product and/or equipment problems.
  • Proven capability to organize and manage multiple technical projects with successful results.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and customer skills.
  • Individuals at this level must have well developed technical skills.
  • Have experience and demonstrated success in program / new product development projects and/or research activities.
  • Requires strong skills in change management, problem solving, written and verbal communications, customer orientation, product technology, global business perspective, personal effectiveness, project management, team skills and applying quality.
  • Demonstrated ability required in Human Resources management and leadership.
