Intermediate Product Engineer, National Semiconductor

National’s Maine facility processes eight-inch silicon wafers using CMOS and BiCMOS technologies.  The operation manufactures 7 x 24 and employs 600 people.  National has operated in Maine since 1987.  The eight-inch factory opened in 1997, and is certified to ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001.

Product Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with product lines to understand new products, their schedules, and their status.
  • Work closely with the product lines to understand each product's sensitivity and wha,t from a fab perspective, will improve that product line's product portfolio performance.
  • Establish experiments to assess product sensitivity and determine the best yield space for each product.
  • Work with integration to define process flow and operations to optimize product yield in manufacturing.
  • Identify process variation improvements that will improve product performance.
  • Drive teams with integration and process engineering to improve variation.
  • Proactively identify product yield optimization where products are not meeting defect limited entitlement.
  • Drive improvements in test, process and/or product design to address yield.
  • Hold strategic users group meetings with product lines to identify process capability opportunities for the fab.
  • Identify strategic capability improvement project and work with integration and process engineering to implement.


Requirements:

BSEE, BS Micro-E or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years product engineering experience required. This position will require travel, possibly international.
