System Design Engineer, KLA Tencor
Responsibilities
Engr, Sys Des 5: Will work in a development engineering group. Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating of electronic/optical equipment and other hardware systems.
Determine design approaches, architecture and parameters. Define specs for critical component of the system. Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
Design electronics for system control and data acquisition. Write DSP firmware to support the design.
Develop functional algorithm/procedure for calibrations, data collection and system integration. Developed Matlab code to verify and refine the data processing algorithm.
Develop testing-diagnostic software, identify and fix hardware problems in complicated optical/electrical system.
Conduct system tests and evaluates results.
Responsibility also includes coordinating team work and project management.
Qualifications
Position requires a Masters degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or related field and at least 6 years of relevant work experience. PhD is preferred. Hands-on hardware design experience is required
Must be experienced in system architecture, analog and digital board level hardware design, modeling and functional simulation. Must have proven system design experience in Optical/electrical instrument/system. Must be familiar with data process and system analysis using tools such as Matlab, Zmax. Must have a deep and proven knowledge in implementation of PCB, including signal integrity issues. Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to make C/C++ programs and knowledge of Ethernet and TCP/IP protocol would be preferred.
Extensive experience in research and development in the field of laser physics, fiber optics, wafer inspection and metrology is preferred.
Travel to client sites may be required. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.
