Director of Information System, KLA Tencor
Responsibilities: This senior technical management position will be responsible for all aspects of KLA-Tencor's enterprise wide infrastructure architecture. This management position will report to the Senior Director of Enterprise Services (ES) in KLA-Tencor's Information Technology department. The successful candidate will hold an important position in KLA-Tencor's IT department leading a small technical team chartered with helping establishing technical roadmaps, enforcement of implementation standards across a broad range of IT technologies, providing senior level technical leadership to mitigate system wide problems, and responsibility for IT system wide functionality (performance / availability / scalability / stability). This position is critical to the long term success of the Enterprise Infrastructure group and will play a key role in the on-going organizational transformation due to current globalization efforts.
Major responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1) Solely responsible for the management, motivation, and direction of a small group of technical experts providing support and leadership to the infrastructure group across a broad range of IT technologies.
2) Development, communication, ownership, and execution of technology roadmaps for all major infrastructure components; e.g. storage (SAN / NAS), network, messaging, Unix / Windows servers, tools, and directory services.
3) Ensuring compliance of existing and newly deployed infrastructure to documented standards.
4) Deep system wide technical knowledge with the ability to drive resolution of complex problems scenarios that is resulting in decreased operational performance or stability across multiple groups.
5) Profiling of application level performance across IT infrastructure identifying and implementing creative strategies to enhance service level delivery.
6) Proactive engagement with IT peers, CIO direct reports, business process owners, engineering management, and executives in order to provide IT value delivery and reach strategic alignment of IT infrastructure delivery.
7) Technical mentoring and leadership broadly across IT driving initiatives through strong influencing skills.
8) Liaisons to application architects helping to design, implement, and qualify efficient service delivery platforms to business users.
The successful candidate will be a pivotal member of the ES staff providing input into group strategy, management, motivation, and staff development. This will include involvement / collaboration in the execution, maintenance, and stabilization of the department through an organizational transformation due to outsourcing and off shoring of key support activates over the next 6-8 months.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be possess the following:
1) A 4 year degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering with a MS desirable.
2) 5 years of proven technical leadership in an IT domain leading an implementation team of 2-10 people.
3) Deep technical knowledge of multiple IT domains; e.g. networking, storage (NAS / SAN), directory services, server architectures, server virtualization technologies, HA architectures, MS Exchange / messaging infrastructures, IPTelephony, backup / archiving infrastructure, security devices, or database administration
4) 3 years in an architectural lead role for a medium size IT organization driving cost effective broad system wide approaches to infrastructure delivery.
5) The ability to communicate, partner, and present solutions to upper level management including the CIO, CFO, and company president.
6) Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
In addition, the ability to reason through complex situations with strength in identifying and mitigating risks is required. Strong prioritization skills will be needed to manage all in-progress and pending projects in an appropriate manner.
