Product Engineer, KLA Tencor
Responsibilities: As a Product Support engineer, you would provide system-level engineering support for our Brighfield series for defect inspection of patterned semiconductor wafers.
Provide remote and on-site technical support internal and external customers in the operation, installation, upgrade, diagnosis, repair and application of semiconductor wafer inspection systems, on assigned products and their respective installed base.
Respond to situations where first-line support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
Involved in system installations and training. Will be required to report reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering.
Work with Design Engineering and Software Engineering:
Specify and test new or improved hardware components and software features.
Resolve problems and recommend improvements relating to system optics, electronics, software, and mechanics.
Improve diagnostic and calibration procedures.
Investigate reports of abnormal system behaviors by performing experiments and analyzing system data.
Support manufacturing and field personnel with troubleshooting help in the form of plans of action or hands-on assistance.
Responsible for deliverables assigned in each phases of the Product Life Cycle (PLC) program.
Assists with development of training programs and provides training to customers, customer support engineers, and other product support personnel.
Develop written plans of action, and various technical reports to communicate issues, analysis, technical assessments, system status, and engineering recommendations.
As a collateral responsibility this position will assist in Cost of Service tracking and data analysis.
Qualifications
Qualifications: BS required (MS or Ph.D. preferred) in Physics, Electronics, Optics, or related technical field. Hands-on experience designing, building, operating, and/or troubleshooting complex instruments, such as experimental research instruments, medical systems, or semiconductor capital equipment. Knowledge of optics, electronics, software, and/or mechanical systems. Results oriented and driven to excel. Strong analytic and data analysis skills. Programming experience a definite plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including asking good questions and providing clear technical explanations. Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and to take a leadership role when needed. Quick grasp of challenging, complex technical information. Natural curiosity, inventiveness, and a goal of making things work better. Ability to work non-standard working hours including weekends and holidays. Multi-lingual proficiency in Japanese, Mandarin, Korean, German or French is highly desirable.
