System Design Engineer IV, Applied Materials
Required Knowledge & Experience: Skills and abilities to perform job include: strong analytical skills; strong oral and written communication skills including specification development; strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills; detail oriented; strong computer literacy skills; exercises mature judgment, ability to work in a team; ability to work independently; ability to influence other people; ability to act as mentor, lead and/or supervise projects; ability to design for serviceability and manufacturability; and ability to determine production worthiness for products. Knowledge and skills typically acquired by a completed BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline [or equivalent knowledge] and 8+ years directly related experience; MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering [or related technical discipline or equivalent knowledge] and 5+ years directly related experience preferred. Preferred previous work experience includes: system engineering experience in a development or manufacturing environment, or engineering experience working directly on AMAT products.
Job Specific Knowledge & Experience: This position is in the Solar Business Group
Lead and/or develop and execute unusually complex projects that have a substantial mix of electrical, mechanical, and software design. Attend design reviews and provide input to MRS and hardware/software specifications. Responsibilities: Write system engineering specifications that cover all aspects of product design. Identify, perform, coordinate, and/or supervise tests, and provide feedback to product engineering and software on new designs and ongoing engineering improvements. Problem identification and troubleshooting a wide range of unusually complex engineering problems. Support System Integration during the assembly and final testing of new product designs. Define all external equipment interfaces and insure they are up to date and documented. Interface with other divisions to workout design and integration issues. Work with vendors to develop new products, including development of key suppliers. Develop and assure that the requirements of the Product Development Process are met. Keep abreast of new CES`s.
