Member Technical Staff, Applied Materials

Required Knowledge & Experience: Excellent analytical skills. - BS Degree in Engineering, and 10+ years of experience in engineering, or equivalent. - Experience in project management. This individual will apply 2D and 3D modeling tools to investigate cost and performance trade-offs for a broad range of photovoltaic processes, primarily crystalline and poly-crystalline silicon but also thin-films. The work will provide guidance for driving technology decisions, tool choices and process optimization. In addition, the function will support activities related to forecasting and road-mapping, as well as circuit-level analysis related to module development. The individual is expected to interact with process development, engineering, characterization and reliability teams to analyze and help solve issues arising in the course of product development.

Job Specific Knowledge & Experience: This position is in the Solar Business Group

Requirements: The successful candidate will have an MS or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering or related field, with 2+ years of experience using commercial TCAD modeling tools, e.g. Synopsys/ISE, for process and device simulations. Detailed knowledge of either VLSI or photovoltaic process flows is expected. A solid foundation is required in: physics of semiconductor process and devices; semiconductor characterization techniques; methodologies for simulation/data closure; working knowledge of SPICE-type circuit simulators. Ability to work across team boundaries and good communication skills are also desired. - MS or PH.D in Engineering field with extensive research background; - 12+ years of experience in engineering with progressive roles of responsibility. Responsibilities: Applies extensive technical expertise in or more engineering disciplines. Manages projects to completion by leading groups through technical expertise. Works on broad goals with autonomy. Performs other duties as assigned.
