Engineering Manager, Applied Materials
Individuals at this level must have well developed technical skills; incumbents normally are required to have experience and demonstrated success in program / new product development projects and/or research activities. Requires strong skills in change management, problem solving, written and verbal communications, customer orientation, product technology, global business perspective, personal effectiveness, project management, team skills, and applying quality. Requires knowledge of systems and software necessary to perform specific job function such as MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project, Flowcharting, PDM, Oracle BOM, Oracle ECO, FRACAS, BRIO, PST, Inventor, and/or Autocad.
Job Specific Knowledge: This position is in the Solar Business Group
An advanced level degree [MS/PhD] in the specific discipline to be managed is preferred
9+ years in Engineering in diverse roles, to include strong, recent and related management experience
Responsibilities:
Ensures that specific project and program objectives are defined for areas of responsibility, and that necessary preliminary activities [e.g., determination of outcomes, milestones, viability studies, and resource planning, among others] are completed to allow for effectiveness and focus during later stages of completion. Ensures that all projects and programs assigned are completed in accordance with predetermined requirements, with specific attention to product/process specifications, project/program costs, resource utilization, and timeliness for completion. Ensures that all phases of project, program and/or process development are documented and that information required in other functional areas is reported, disseminated, or transferred, as appropriate. Ensures compliance with company policies including [but not limited to] engineering/lab notebooks, patents, confidentiality, ISO, safety and others as required. Ensures that the utilization of all material and financial resources is carried out in an effective manner. Effectively assigns work to subordinate staff, providing for professional development in addition to maximum productivity for the area. Spearheads research and development of new technologies, as appropriate, and ensures that newly created processes, designs, and/or methodologies are incorporated into Applied Materials products/services, and/or disseminated to other areas as needed. Responsible for departmental budgets and spending requirements. Effectively utilizes computing resources for optimization of design development activities and timelines. May perform other duties as assigned.
