Prepares and completes tax returns and reports involved with federal, state, local, property, sales, and other tax liabilities. Responsible for meeting all required deadlines. Maintains current knowledge of all tax laws affecting the company. Reviews proposals for tax implications and recommends actions that meet the business plans while managing the tax liability. Assists in tax audits. May be involved with tax implications of mergers and acquisitions including tax research and planning.
Key duties:
· Full charge sales and use (including preparation of annual use tax budget and maintenance of exemption certificates )
· Full charge property tax (including preparation of annual property tax budget and identification of potential property tax abatements)
· Apportionment
· Depreciation
· Assist with VAT issues
· Monitor worldwide taxes paid (month/quarter/year, actual and forecast)
· Prepare balance sheet tax account reconciliations
· Prepare tax account flux analyses
· Prepare SAP requisitions for payment
· Maintain tax calendar
· Research potential state tax incentives (use tax credits; workforce credits; pollution control incentives; etc.)
· Other items as requested by tax dept managers
Interpersonal Skill:
· Must be able to develop a strong working relationship with financial professionals with MEMC as well as develop strong working relationships with agencies and vendors externally.
· Must use a positive approach to manage cost reduction program while maintaining a high and predictable level of service on a worldwide basis
· Must be the owner of the tax calendar
· Work effectively with all locations and diverse cultures
Job Related Experience:
· 8+ years in corporate tax planning and preparation
· 2+ years as a supervisor is a plus
· Multi facility and global responsibility for tax function
· Experience in domestic and international environments
· Experience in strategic planning and implementation
Knowledge:
· Must have knowledge in all aspects of ERP such as SAP
· Must has knowledge of leading edge tax practices
Education:
· Must have a minimum BS or equivalent work related experience.
Physical Requirements:
5% - 10% travel required (domestic and international)
