Provides technical and managerial direction to all projects in Solar research and development. Directs and may participate in the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of solar wafer manufacturing. Develops and maintains specifications as well as provides strategic planning resources and tool requirements for the work. Evaluates final results of research and development projects to assure accomplishment of technical objectives. Prepares and presents reports outlining the future of technical projects and makes recommendations for actions necessary to achieve desired results. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Job Related Experience: � Extensive hands-on experience with process and equipment knowledge � Experience with both Directional Solidification and Single Crystal growth of silicon ingots and understanding effect on solar cell efficiency.
Knowledge: � Technology � Understand the technology involved with the solar wafer manufacturing process including business solutions for improving quality � Business - Ability to understand customer needs and competitive solutions including the positioning of new product appropriately. � Also, need to understand details of how product cost, capital etc, compare to competitive offering and distinguishing benefit of his/her development. � Ability to manage budget/spend on a project to target and complete the project on-time. � Leadership: Ability to lead a small team of people to drive the above results.
Education/Experience: � PhD with 10 years of solar experience (very strong technical capability - theory & hands-on) in developing and bringing solar to the market at competitive costs & superior product capability. Manufacturing experience a plus.
Physical Requirements: � Must be able to travel extensively globally and throughout the US
