Lead Mechanical Engineer, Carl Zeiss SMT, Inc.
The lead mechanical engineer will be responsible for developing concepts for a new generation 300mm He focused ion beam system, including selecting, specifying and evaluating major mechanical subsystems, such as high-precision stages, robots, vibration isolation systems and vacuum systems for a new product development. In addition, the Lead Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for in-house design of vacuum chambers, gas handling system integration, detector integration and other mechanical sub assemblies as required. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with charged particle systems and vacuum systems. The ideal candidate should have experience with the semiconductor industry and be knowledgeable in electron and ion beam physics.
Major Responsibilities
- Writing requirement documents for major subsystems. Identifying candidate vendors, getting quotations and choosing best solution.
- Manage mechanical system development and associated team
- Design of in house components, such as vacuum chamber
- Integration of in house components onto applications system used for testing
- Evaluation and selection of gallium ion column
- Evaluation and selection of gas injection system
- Working closely with the rest of the team to complete a conceptual design of system.
Skills
- Strong CAD experience, preferably in Solid Works.
- Experience in system design
- Works well in a small-team environment. Must be able to do many different tasks
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering (M.S. preferred)
- At least five years experience in semiconductor or other high tech environment
- Vacuum system experience
- Familiarity with Optics, electro-optics, ion beams and electron beams
