Application Engineer, AMI Semiconductor
The Audio Group (within AMIS Medical Business Unit) requires an enthusiastic, technically skilled individual to assist with the technical and project-related aspects of audio applications.
The successful candidate will help to manage and provide technical guidance to key customer projects during the design-in of the Audio Group products on an ongoing basis. The role will also involve some management of internal products and reference design implementations as well. The position will allow flexibility to grow to the evolving needs of the business unit.
This position has a global focus.
Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple key customer project developments (with direct customer interaction) to ensure that they progress smoothly. Assist customers as needed and report back on status.
- Work with FAE and Sales team to help sell our products and solve customer development problems.
- Help drive the design and implementation of internal projects such as hardware demonstrators and reference designs.
- Work with hardware, software and firmware development teams to collaborate on projects.
- Write product documentation for internal and customer use.
- Write project-specific documentation and specifications.
- Assist in the debugging of audio hardware: select customer implementations and reference designs.
- Perform audio evaluations and recordings in the sound room.
- Evaluate characteristics of audio hardware and systems.
- Assist in the development of customer training material.
Position Requirements:
- Electrical engineering degree or equivalent.
- At least five years of relevant experience in consumer electronics (cellphones or communication devices preferred).
- Ability to work on cross-functional projects with minimal supervision.
- In-depth knowledge of audio signal processing and real-time systems.
- Proven ability to develop real-time applications with embedded DSP or microcontrollers.
- Good writing, communication and presentation skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel globally up to 20% of the time.
- Basic knowledge of miniature electronics and low-power design.
- Candidate must work well in formal and informal teams
Additional assets (optional):
- knowledge /experience/understanding of consumer electronics markets from the business and/or technical perspective.
- Interest in audio design and concepts.
- General understanding of (or interest in) business and marketing principles.
- Experience or knowledge of audio system components.
- Natural ability to assess audio quality by performing listening tests.
