Design Engineer/System Architect, AMI Semiconductor
The System Architect role is responsible for understanding customers' technical and product related requirements and architecting a silicon solution using AMIS' technologies, IP, and engineering services. The SA works extensively to understand the technical constraints and then works with the PME to propose a solution with estimates of die size, test time, and development effort and span.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:
- Lead technical evaluation of new opportunities with mixed-signal, and digital capabilities in Military / Aero applications.
- Participate in evaluation of new intellectual property for designs; conduct some long range IP development/proof of concept work.
- Assemble technical evaluations and support quotations based in inputs obtained from customer and design team.
- Prepare and make technical presentations to customers.
- May represent AMIS at technical conferences and trade shows.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Accuracy and completeness of technical proposals.
- Assess technical risks of projects.
- Support the generation of profitable new design wins.
- Build relationships with technical staff at customers locations.
- Knowledge of AMIS capabilities and competencies.
- Excellent communication skills.
CONSULTS WITH: Military / Aero customers, Field Sales (FAE, RSM, and Sales Reps), Quality, Packaging, Technology Research and Development, Program Managers.
Position Requirements:
- BSEE or MSEE preferred or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 to 10 years experience in mixed-signal ASIC design.
- Moderate - Extensive travel (at times) is required.
- Preferred: 7+ years mixed-signal and digital IC design and test related experience including relevant software tools and methodologies.
- Must be or have the ability to be DOD certified.
